Google has been revamping its YouTube platform recently with the release of its subscription-based YouTube Red service and now with its release of YouTube Music. The new music-based app is free to use and functions in much the same way as the regular YouTube app for playing music. However, the dedicated YouTube Music app will create an endless stream of music that users can tweak to increase variety. A big draw for YouTube Music is that it will become ad-free if you are also a premium subscriber of YouTube Red. Users who log into YouTube Music will also be treated to a free 14 day trial of YouTube Red. At this point it’s unclear what real benefits the service provides, but perhaps future updates will make it more competitive with other music-streaming services.
