The world of augmented reality is about to get real. Apple has hired a Microsoft Hololens engineer, Nick Thompson, who was responsible for aiding in the design of the Hololens headset. While the new engineer was hired to work on audio projects for the company, it’s another eye-raising bit of evidence that Apple is indeed knee deep in augmented reality development. Apple acquired the augmented reality firm Mateio earlier this year, which is a clear indication that the Cupertino-based company is developing a Hololens competitor. Only time will tell exactly what Apple is planning, but if it’s anything like their other products then you can bet it will be slick and cutting edge.
