TV and movies have gone streaming, ebooks have become massively popular, and now it’s time for magazines to get the digital touch. Texture is the new name for the magazine app Next Issue, which has undergone some serious design changes. Dubbed ‘the Netflix of magazines’, Texture is a subscription service that allows you to browse from a huge catalogue of magazines on your portable device for a monthly fee of $10. One of the big new changes is an added emphasis on individual articles as opposed to a whole issue. Similar to a feed, the “New & Noteworthy” section of the app is curated by real humans who want to help you find the best content quickly and easily. There are now also “curated collections” that will group a series of articles by theme. A new, robust search feature opens up the possibility of searching through an archive of more than 15,000 back issues and over 500,000 articles. Texture promises to bring the magazine to the digital age.
