Charlie Rose was granted a rare look inside the Apple labs during a ’60 Minutes’ feature and he took full advantage of the opportunity. So what did he learn? One of the main takeaways is that even though Tim Cook is the current CEO, it’s Steve Jobs’ vision and legacy that is still driving the company forward. The chief design officer, Jony Ive, has taken Jobs’ perfection-drive mindset and continued onward with every new device he helps model. The design lab is a surprisingly quite place that looks remarkably similar to an Apple Store, down to its natural wood work tables. Cook and the company defended the use of encryption as a way to protect user privacy, which has been a contentious issue in the political sphere as of late.
