Most people would expect app developers to trust their partners over their peers, but new data suggests that the exact opposite is true. Data was gathered from over 10,000 app developers and the conclusion is that when they need feedback or other resources these developers tend to value support from third-party sites and forums as opposed to the official developer platforms. The main thing that developers sought from the official platforms were example code and documentation. The site Stack Overflow has become the most popular outlet of online developer advice, generating 8 million hits from developers per day and taking credit for more than 16 million solutions. One of the main reasons developers choose third-party solutions is because they are generally more honest than first-party sites dedicated to supporting a platform. So, who do you trust more?
