Apple announced at its September 9th press event that the Apple Watch now has 10,000 available apps for download. That’s an absolutely huge number, but how does it compare to the competition? The Pebble, which has had an app store in place since February of 2014, only has roughly 7,000 by comparison. And they’re the closest company in matching Apple’s numbers. Samsung currently has 6,000 apps for its Gear and Gear S2 smart watch line. Although they have fewer apps, their smart watches have been incredibly successful with over one million sales of its original Gear model. Android Wear from Google only has 4,000 apps even though Google has the most smart watches available on the market. It’s clear that Apple is trying to become the de facto smart watch retailer by providing users with the most apps for its device.
