Apple’s programming language, Swift, has officially gone open source and is now available at swift.org. They have also made the source code available on GitHub as well as releasing a Linux port to expand access to the language. The company is also sharing design guidelines for the language so that there is a more cohesive feel to Swift development. The Swift programming language is renowned for its ability to easily write software incredibly quickly and with a focus on safety. Now that the language is open source, there will likely be a massive increase in the number of programs and applications that are created using it.
